When the African Innovation Foundation planned to move their offices to the trendy and newly renovated “Kreis 5” area in Zurich, we were given very clear requirements:

 

“There is an expectation that the office shows innovation. Rooms should invite to gain creativity and let ideas circulate freely, with comfortable corners for people to have relaxing discussions (lounge), also some craziness and disruption will be welcomed.”

The tight budget was in line with the charity nature of the foundation. The challenge was huge!

 

The following elements were added to the open-office concept:

 

A central island, which provides two meeting rooms throughout the office, is surrounded by a very versatile and relaxing area. This area offers different meeting situations and can be subdivided or “edited” by sliding panels designed with translucent materials. In case of corporate events, these elements can be taken off and stored to offer an open plan.

 

With innovative solutions and sustainable materials, we were able to achieve comfortable spaces and relaxing areas that invite to the discussion and the exchange of ideas.

Bright colors -which were taken from the corporate image of the foundation- were dumped on the floor and used to emphasize connections between the different areas.
