Küsnacht, Switzerland. 2016

In a three story family house with a generous surrounding garden, the ground and first floor were merged into a duplex apartment.

A new staircase was built in the heart of the story to connect both levels. A main structural support was added to receive this new element and to allow removing or drilling the walls to favor the out view onto the extensive garden.

The main ground floor is a key multi-functional space with defined zones of reception, dining, kitchen and living room. This was accomplished by changing ceilings, light fittings and floor surfaces specially highlighted with combinations of materials. The new kitchen -with its new double-circulation- changed radically the dynamics of the house.

The first floor welcomes us with a generous hall, where the floor has been carefully chosen to reinforce its central and distributing functions.

The current bathroom has gained space with a new layout, and a connection to the master bedroom has been added through a generous walk-in closet.
